Lela Skirt

I tested the Lela skirt by Sew DIY. The skirt is easy to wear and easy to style. It is a beginner friendly sewing pattern. It doesn't have a zipper to throw off a new beginner. It  just has an elastic waistband. Since I was testing, I didn't skip some features that I might have because it  takes "extra time" to sew. I didn't skip making the buttonholes and drawstring.

I chose view C which has a straight hem and scooped pockets. I always like a good pocket. The pattern is packed with different variations: two lengths, two type of curved hems vs straight hem, three different type of pockets, side vents, and a low to high option. The instructions make with good tips along the way. I especially liked the tip to cut out where the buttonhole marking was on the pattern piece. Then place the pattern piece on your fabric and you can see exactly where you are marking the buttonhole.

The instructions also tell you how to make your own drawstring which I think elevates the skirt  because the drawstring is made out of the same fabric as the skirt. I sewed the skirt in a mystery fabric that might be a crepe.

In conclusion, the Lela skirt is a great skirt to sew for beginners and more advanced sewers alike.
